    What is Packaging Testing?

    While a product may be well designed for operation in its intended location, how it gets from point of origin to point of use has the potential to cause damage and degradation due to stresses in handling, transportation and supply chain hazards.

    The packaging in which a product ships has to withstand potential physical and environmental exposures from manual or automatic handling, storage and stacking, transport vibration from road, rail, sea or air transport, potential for fall/drop, as well as hot, cold or humid conditions.

    The importance of protecting products from a myriad of consumer delivery mechanisms is greater than ever. Pre-shipment distribution testing offers a valuable understanding of packaged-product performance. These testing processes enable organisations and their people to minimise product damage through distribution and optimise resource usage through effective package design.

    In some sectors, product is designed to be transported to point of use throughout its lifetime, often in harsh environments. Robust and effective package handling and transit systems are required.
